Short and Sweet Logo

This logo was an update of an existing logo. The original was a photograph of a clock face with blue swirls behind it, and used a typewriter style font. we wanted to make it a little more “logo” looking, so I used the photograph, but blew the curves out to make it monochromatic, layering a few colors so it resembled a silkscreened poster. Instead of generic swirls I found some hand-drawn swirls that looked like wings…kind of a cool “Time Flies” reference, since their tagline is “Time is of the essence.” Instead of the simple typewriter font I tried a fat, grungy typeface, and added a simple script tagline.

Tara came to me with this logo already in her head, so it was just a matter of taking what was in her head and translating it to the screen. It went through a couple of iterations before settling on this friendly, hand-drawn-looking type and simple composition and color schemes.

Digital Scrapbooking Magazine Logo

The idea behind this logo was that the digital scrapbook pages featured in the magazine were so cleverly done that they had to actually tell you they were digital – that’s where the talk bubble came from. We also strove for a “friendly-tech” feeling on the logo, so we experimented with a wide variety of technical yet whimsical fonts.

This logo was created for a small craft store in the midwest (that has since moved from brick and mortar to Etsy-only). We developed a logo and tagline based on her slightly fun, irreverent look at crafts, and settled on a dressmaker’s dummy, since she had one in the entrance of the store. This logo always makes me smile. I love the stitching details, simple icons, purple polka dots and the fact that the font we used contains one of her daughter’s names. Definitely one of my favorites.

Erin came to me knowing she wanted a little girl, possibly a toddler, and a dog in her logo, so I created this simple silhouette for her. I also crafted the “Real Life. Real Photography.” tagline. In her site, we used similar silhouette images and different plays on her tagline (eg: Real adventure. Real photography with a silhouette of cattails and grass to go with a picture of a little boy playing), and the brand worked very well throughout all pieces.

This photographer wanted a minimalist design to showcase her gorgeous photography. We added a background that changes color depending on the section, an image-based nav menu, and a cool Slideshow Pro portfolio that makes clever use of galleries on top of the Studio Press Chrome Theme.

We also included a splash-page styled home page and embedded a Google calendar for events.

Scrap for a Cure

This is probably the largest customization I’ve taken on to date. It is based on the Chrome theme by Studio Press. I love the tabs across the top with the cool little rollover effect. I edited the content scroller to fit my design, changed the backgrounds *way* up, and tweaked the search box to fit their desired grunge style.

I also added a custom, editable sidebar. Slideshow Pro galleries were also used throughout the site. It also includes my first implementation of the WP E-Commerce plugin.
